About Darkwell Capital
Litigation finance for contractors who did the work and still aren’t paid
Darkwell Capital LLC is a private litigation finance and claim purchase company. We exist for the moment when the invoice is still open and the blocker is capital — not a missing theory of the claim.
Who we are
Darkwell is led by Sean Gribbons and Eric Black. We work with contractors, subcontractors, and trade businesses who are owed meaningful money on commercial or residential jobs and need a capital partner that understands unpaid construction claims.
We are not a law firm. We are not attorneys. We do not give legal advice or represent you in court. When a file needs counsel, that work belongs to your licensed attorney. Darkwell’s role is capital: funding eligible enforcement, or — when underwriting supports it — purchasing an eligible claim so you can move on.
Litigation finance
Capital that may help cover eligible enforcement costs so your counsel can act — underwriting-dependent, never a promise you will win.
Claim purchase
On select eligible files, Darkwell may buy the claim so you can exit and move on — case-by-case, not automatic for every invoice.
Multi-state operations — educational content
Colorado is a core operating market. Darkwell also works with contractors and claims in other states (including Utah and Wyoming, and additional states case-by-case). We also publish educational content that may speak to unpaid-contractor / claim-funding searches in other markets — that is not a promise of funding or a license to practice law there.
State-law disclaimer: Construction, lien, notice, and suit rules are state-specific. Colorado articles (including our Colorado Mechanic Lien Guide 2026 and related cluster posts) describe Colorado frameworks. They do not control jobs in Florida, California, or anywhere else. For out-of-state projects, confirm every deadline and filing with a licensed attorney in that state. We do not invent local licenses, bar admission, or apply Colorado-only rules to other states.
How a claim review works
01
You send a packet
Contract/scope, invoices and balance owed, project parties and address, last-work facts, any notice/lien/suit status as your counsel describes it, and key payment communications or proof of work.
02
We review for underwriting
Claim strength on paper, collectability signals, and whether capital (funding or purchase) could be relevant.
03
You hear back
Typically within 24–48 business hours with a funding or purchase conversation if the file looks eligible. Many files are not a fit — that is an honest outcome.
A claim review is not legal advice, not a guaranteed offer, and not a promise of recovery.
What Darkwell is NOT
- Not attorneys and not a law firm
- Not legal advice — including Colorado or any other state’s construction/lien law
- Not guaranteed funding — eligibility is case-by-case after review
- Not a substitute for licensed counsel on notices, liens, filings, or courtroom strategy
- We do not invent case results, win rates, licenses, or bar credentials
